This book is a travelogue of Edwin John Dingle, an Englishman who spent six years traveling across China on foot during the early 20th century. His journey begins in Shanghai and takes him through the provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, and Xinjiang.
