Matej Bor was thepen name of Vladimir Pavi¿ (14 April, 1913 - 29 September, 1993), whowas a Slovene poet, translator, playwright, journalist and partisan. Borpublished a number of poetry collections. His first collection, calledPreviharimo viharje, was published during the anti-fascist resistancefight in 1942 by an underground publishing house. In 1959 he publishedthe book el je popotnik skozi atomski vek ('A Wanderer Went Through theAtom Age'), an apocalyptic poetic reflection on the environmentaldisasters in the Atomic Age. The book was republished in severaleditions and was translated into the major European languages andcontributed to Bor's popularity outside Yugoslavia.
