The first edition, first impression of this work in the original pictorial laminated boards. Ink markings to the list of Biggles books facing the title page. The sixty-ninth book of the Biggles series, which was written for young readers, and features James Bigglesworth as a fictional pilot and adventurer. These popular works were written by William Earl Johns (1893 -1968), who was himself a pilot in the First World War. With illustrations by Leslie Stead, who worked on many of the books in the Biggles series. In the original pictorial laminated boards. Externally, very smart and bright with just a little wear to the laminate to the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine. book.

Publisher's laminated boards with exactly the same artwork and layout as the jacketed edition, top edge tinted blue. No inscriptions, contents clean, edges slightly dusty with light spotting, minor wear. Very good indeed. Biggles finds himself batting for the other team in this adventure, in which he joins a syndicate to loot treasure from a cave in Arabia. The laminated editions state 'First Published' and use first edition sheets; they were bound up later from unsold stock and do not include any colour illustrations (where present).
