Octavo, green boards (hardcover), 230 pp. Very Good, with sunning to edges; in a Good, mylar protected dust jacket with tedgewear that includes light chipping. From dust jacket: This is the story of Adam and Eve. Their time was the early 1920s, and their Paradise was Florida, where the greatest land bubble in history swelled and shimmered with rosy reflections of fifty-room Spanish Renaissancce cottages, Miami property at $70,000 a front foot, submerged Everglades subdivisions, and revelry by night and day. Adam was an architect extraordinary, a genius of a certain type, a free liver and lover enjoying life to the hilt. But when he met Eve it seemed that there could be no other woman in the world. Together they plunged into the Florida boom and reached and rode its crest -- Adam designing ever more fabulous estates, Eve providing their incredible furnishings. Society took them up -- but a society which included Mona Otis, who emerged from one of Adam;s swimming pools without benefit of bathing suit and calmly announced that she intended to drive him crazy and then marry him; and Gerry Vance, who pomoted Adam into building the fatally lavish dream-city, Roca Faro. Then the bubble burst. Overnight the Garden of Eden became an unsalable subdivision. The buildings stopped half-finished, the hopeful boulevards halted short of nowhere; underbrush sprouted in the dream-cities. And Adam had lost his Eve. How he found her again, and how togehter they made their way into a new world, make a heart-filling finish to this novel of Florida's big buble. In its exciting, stirring pages readers will find themselves transported back to a fantastic place and time not so long ago, when America was madder, but gladder. Literature, Floridiana, Florida, Historic Fiction, Americana, U.S.-iana, Housing Bubble, Real Estate Bubble. aslic.
