Publisher's original pictorial boards backed in blue cloth. 42 illustration on 25 numbered plates and 5 illustrations in the text. With a warm presentation to Dr. John Edgi (sp?) to dedication page, signed by the author and dated 1973. Some minimal light shelfwear to boards, contents clean, generally a very good copy indeed. "The main purpose of this monograph is obvious. It is an honest attempt to present the history and architecture of the Badshahi Masjid built at Lahore in 1084/1674 by the Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir, who is wrongly maligned for not having any taste for art and architecture, although he built this, the largest and greatest, work of art among the world's mosques that are in use. Unfortunately, the mosque has never received adequate attention either from the historian or from the art expert and thus it is very little known outside Pakistan" (preface).
