Based on the 1977 novel by Colin Forbes about a defecting Russian general who collaborates with an American secret agent to expose KGB spies throughout Europe by luring them onto a train headed west. Director Mark Robson and actor Robert Shaw died of unrelated heart attacks within months of the film's release, making "Avalanche Express" a final film for both. Set and shot on location in Germany, England, Ireland, Italy, and the US.
