Fair copy, 5 lines in ink, on New York City "Department of Docks" stationery. 12mo. "The Flight of Youth" is Stoddard's (18251903) most widely anthologized poem; a the time of this transcription, he was working for the New York Department of Docks as the confidential secretary of ex-Civil War general George Brinton McClellan. Stoddard was also an important editor and literary critic. Glue remnants on verso from previous mounting. With a fine, large cabinet portrait photograph, by SARONY. Laid in a brown cloth chemise Fair copy, 5 lines in ink, on New York City "Department of Docks" stationery. 12mo.
