Original dark green cloth, covers moderately rubbed, corners worn, gilt titles on cover and spine. A very curious piece of historical importance relating to Redondo Beach. The author, Julia M. Burnett died in 1905. This collection of poetry was published under the direction of her son, Charles Burnett. Julia M. Burnett lived most of her life in New York and her poems were kept in a diary. At Charles' request, she gathered her poems together and this enabled Charles to have them published. Due to health concerns, Julia and Charles moved west and settled in Redondo Beach. All of this is explained in the introduction written by Charles. Tipped in is a photograph of Julia with a printed signature below. Warmly inscribed on the front flyleaf: "To Cousin Rachel with love & best wishes from Charles H. Burnett Christmas 1907." Very early printing from Redondo Beach.
