[++] This is a splendid collection by Mr. Nelson, who taught high school secretarial science in Pennsylvania ("Instructor, Secretarial Science, Windber high School, Windber, Pa."), and who provides what is basically a DIY on how to create art with your typewriter. This is no doubt a masterpiece of its type (sorry!), introducing to many the possibilities of creating images with letters and numbers. [++] There are NO COPIES of this work located in WorldCat! [++] Note: there is an interesting article by Alexis Madrigal ("The Lost Ancestors of ASCII Art--People will make art with any technology") in "The Atlantic" talking about the history and pre-history of typed art that you should read to further appreciate this pre-computer art application of alpha-numerical typed art. The Lost Ancestors of ASCII Art--People will make art with any technology. (Another article on the Nelson book that appears in The Verge "On the ASCII Art of the 1930s".).
