A smart first edition of this world history of artists' lithographs, with the scarce original unclipped dust wrapper. First edition. With the scarce original unclipped dust wrapper. Illustrated with one hundred and ninety-three images, thirty-two of which are in colour. Ever since the invention of lithography by Aloys Senefelder in 1798, artists have turned to the medium as their most popular method of printmaking. With the two most notable exceptions being Constable and Turner, practically all artists have worked with this medium. This volume contains the choicest examples of their work as a history of the lithograph and its success. Written by Hans Felix Sigismund Baumann, or Felix H. Man, a German-British photographer and later an art collector. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper is very smart with minor sunning to the extremities. A price sticker to the front fly leaf. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
