Berthold containing examples of the elegant Ariston typeface put to various commercial uses: posters, advertisements, book dustjacket, business cards, matchbook cover, invitations, and letterheads. Examples of each of these are contained in this portfolio, in all, 21 inserts with 27 items (i.e., some mounted). The latest dated insert is 1934. M. Wilke drew the Ariston typeface in 1933 for the H. Berthold AG foundry in Berlin, Germany. Portfolio measures 8.5 x 12", a couple of the posters are larger and are folded in half, as issued; some inserts (e.g., business cards) are smaller. The inserts are fine or near fine; portfolio folder shows some light edgewear, couple of small chips to edge of silver-toned mounted label on upper wrapper.…
