Black textured boards with gilt title above blind stamped emblem of The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge in near fine condition. Very slight rubbing to spine ends and corners. Red edging to the pages. In almost unread condition. Inside the front cover, the book is signed by it's previous owner Sir Herbert Dowbiggin CMG. He was the eighth British colonial Inspector General of Police of Ceylon from 1913 to 1937, the longest tenure of office of an Inspector General of Police (IGP). He was called the 'Father of Colonial Police' and was knighted in 1931.
