This is an amazing posting box in great condition and appears to be made in London England. This thing is in amazing shape for its age and its one time (assumed) journey to the United States. Dimensions are as follows: 56 inches tall, 17 inches wide, upper is 8 1/2 inches deep, and lower is 10 3/4 inches deep. The main wood is approximately 3/4 inches this and the back is approximately 3/8 inches thick. The sides, picture #9, are the exact same wood and color as the front. This amazing item weighs approximately 80 pounds is built very fine and sturdy. What an amazing rare item. The key to the bottom works and there is no key for the top lock (although a replacement would be fairly easy to obtain). There are some light vertical cracks on the right and left side and I have pictured the most significant crack. This crack is considered minor and the wood is attached and solid in this area and it measures 1/16 inches at its widest. One other crack/split on the other side is paper thin and measures about 20 inches. There are a few other light splits but again these are extremely minor.
