A charming collection of images and descriptions of domestic animals and birds, providing important information about each animal to serve as an introduction to natural history for children. Written by Henry William Dulcken, an English translator and children's writer, best known for translating the stories of Hans Christian Andersen. Many of his books for children were illustrated by the Brothers Dalziel. Rebacked with the original red cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and board edges with the odd mark. Light loss to the head and tail of the spine of the original cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Light age toning to the extremities. Good. book.
