Add to basketQuarto, steel-blue cloth, spine and cover printed in silver (reversed-out lettering), [xvi], approximately 957 pp. (uncommon pagination), illustrated throughout with numerous diagrams, graphs, tables and formulas; some black-and-white photographs included. Corners very slightly bumped; otherwise this volume appears to be unread and is in fine, as-new condition. First edition, scarce. An incredibly comprehensive examination of flight vehicle structures by E. F. Bruhn, B.S, M.S., C.E., Dr. Eng, Professor (Emeritus) of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University, Indiana, USA, with credited contributions by esteemed colleagues. This 1973 edition includes two major changes from the original 1965 edition: Chapter 23 has been revised and expanded by a new co-author Dr. Joseph A. Wolf; and the replacement of Chapter C13 with a new chapter on the same topic of fatigue of materials and structures is by C. R. Smith, an authority in the subject. Professor Bruhn has drawn on a vast amount of material, including reports, manuals, drawings and photographs, teh majority of which was supplied by aerospace companies (including Boeing of Seattle; General Dynamics; Vought Division of LTV Corp. and more). As a result, Bruhn has produced an extraordinary detailed technical volume that is essential reading for aircraft and aerospace strength design engineers.
