Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. This Near Fine book was published by Hurst & Company; it is 8" x 5-1/4" with 304 numbered pages; if it was issued with a jacket, there is none now; there also is no copyright page or copyright date nor any list of books by which to estimate a date-I cannot even guess when it might have been published. Curiously, the front panel and the spine give the title as "On the Amazon" whereas the title page has it as "On the Amazons", which is at the top of every page of the text up to page 208. There is a frontis only, on coated paper. The book is square, very clean, free of corner bumps and edge dings, with minor bumping to the spine ends, which have slight color loss but no fabric damage. Bottom edges have very little wear and the lettering and illustrations on the spine and front panel are undamaged--even the normally fragile blue paint on the font illustration is intact. The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and paper damage of any sort. The paper is very slightly toned and very flexible and not brittle. Each end page has the half nearest to the fore edge modestly toned, presumably from a jacket. The hinges are both quite strong and not damaged in any way. A very solid book.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Very good inside and out. Found couple small light smudges inside and light staining to bottom of front cover. Very light wear to corners and spine ends. See pictures for further description.
