Scarlet red dappled cloth with bright gilt title on front cover In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket. The dust-jacket is near fine, but sadly has a tear with loss to the top rear cover (5.5cm x 2cm in a triangular shape). The d/j is now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks Fine. 63 pages, the title page has a small b/w illustration, and with a full page coloured frontispiece opposite. With 7 other full page coloured plates, and black and white chapter head and tail pieces throughout. Rado was an Hungarian Architect and Artist who settled in London in the 1940s, somewhat modelling his illustrations after Rackham but less 'threatening' and more imaginative ( ie: the price slip in the Hatter's hatband is £99 instead of 10/6, and the White Rabbit's house has a wonderful rabbit-eared shaped thatch roof, etc, etc. ). The beautiful full colour dust-jacket Is not price-clipped, showing the original price of 10/6 net still intact. A gift note for Christmas in ink 'To Susan.' dated 1944, is on the front free endpaper o/w NO other inscriptions or marks. A really lovely Bright Clean, Tight copy of quite a scarce Alice.
