These two species of Acne so constantly occur together, as in the case here engraved from a drawing of Dr. Willan's, that it was not deemed necessa…ry to figure them separately. The black puncta, indeed, sometimes appear on the top of in-flamed tubercles, which they have excited, being, in fact, little plugs of hardened mucus or sebaceous matter, irritating and over-distending the little ducts of the sebaceous glands, in which they are lodged. In general, however, these puncta are surrounded only by a very slight raised border of cuticle. "In 1814 Bateman acquired the copyright to the engravings in the Willan treatise. He arranged to have the plates refurbished, replaced a few, added to them a completely new set of engravings depicting the later Genera, which had never before been illustrated.".
