Spines scuffed with Volume I and III having furrowed surfaces; spines' black title labels also scuffed but with gilt lettering still easily legible; staining to boards with peeling and wear to corners. Each volume with an O'Casey family Mississippi and Ireland genealogical-themed bookplate affixed upon their respective front pastedowns; ink name stamp "Albert M. Casey, M.D." at top of each front free endpaper along with a second stamp at top of another early leaf with a third stamp at top of rear pastedown (I and III) or top of rfep verso (II). Some interior foxing/toning and scattered stains. Last text leaf of Volume III is unpaged but offers plate collations for each volume. ***** VOLUME I: xii, 536 pages; perhaps missing a ffly; b/w frontispiece portrait and title leaf detached; one early quire slightly pulled; pencil writing in fore-edge margin of pages 26 and 28; missing rfep; all ten b/w plates present as called for. ***** VOLUME II: iv, 1-536, [missing 537-538], 539-552 pages; several quires pulled; final text leaf (pages 551-552) only tenuously attached; margin chips to pages 1-2 and 549-550 with latter leaf having fractional text loss; several other leaves with some margin tears; b/w plate opposite page 28 lacks its center portion with image loss; otherwise all thirty-six b/w plates present as called for. ***** VOLUME III: iv, 552, [2] pages; all eleven b/w plates present as called for. *** Acquired from the estate of Birmingham, Alabama pathologist, bibliophile, and genealogist Dr. Albert Eugene Casey (1903-1982) who served as director of laboratories at Birmingham Baptist Hospitals from 1942-1972.
