First edition. Three corner-stapled 8 ½" x 14" mimeographed sheets folded, 6 pp. Some offsetting to rear sheet, else VG+. No record for this document found in WorldCat. The first draft of the MLP's program was initially published in the inaugural issue of its organ, "The Communist" (Winter 1970). This second draft greatly expands the Party's ten-point platform providing key theoretical insight into one of the many New Communist Movement groups operating at the beginning of the 1970s. The Party's slightly ambitious purpose is defined in point one where it commits to "wage class war, defeat modern revisionism, overthrow U.S. imperialism in armed revolution, and establish the Dictatorship of the Proletariat." This is followed by its world outlook, dialectical and historical materialism, world contradictions, contradictions of the "so-called U.S.A." (in which the various "national-colonial" struggles inside the U.S. are discussed: Puerto Rico, the Black Belt nation, and the Chicano nation); the women's question [sic]; and the party's strategic aims, tactical line, and fundamental tasks of the Party. The Marxist-Leninist Party emerged out of the remnants of the Proletarian Revolutionary Party and the C.P.U.S.A. (M.L.). They published "The Communist," while their sister organization, the Red Women's Detachment, published "Red Star." By 1973 the publications merged to produce "Class War," but by 1974 the Party and its publications had collapsed.
