Full Leather. Condition: Good. W. F. R. (illustrator). The Preface states that this edition is an extension of his prior book, Poetry of Flowers. The title on the spine strip is Album of Flowers. Publication date and artist(s) are not given. The embossed design on the title page is the same as on the boards. The endapers are decorative, heavy paper. Unpaginated. The pages are heavy paper, each with poem and an embossed (raised paper) illustration of a flower. Twenty of the pages do not have color. The following have color: violet, moss rose-bud, tulip, forget-me-not; lily of the valley; fuchsia; passion flower; amaranthus. The printer is S. R. Kelly. The embossed decoration is askew on the front board and less so on the back board. The bottom 3 1/2 in. of the spine strip is missing; 2 1/2 in. of leather is missing from the front board. The hinges, endpapers, and cover joints are split and are rejoined on the inside with cloth tape. The front board is missing a 2 in. x 1 in. piece of leather by the front joint. The back board is missing a 3 3/4 in. x 4 in. piece on the bottom end. The text block ends are gilt.The pages have small amount of foxing and/or stains, mostly light. Scans e-mailed upon request. This is 'Universal Gazetteer or Geographical Dictionary or sometimes known as Brooke's and Walkers Gazetteer by Longmann' and is founded on the works of Brookes and Walker with numerous maps. It was produced by multiple publishers as listed in 1840. This is a cloth hardcover book in a green shade with titling attached to a paper plate on the spine. This book has no dust jacket and shows significant bumping to corners, edges and spine, plus noted scuffing to all cover aspects including fading to spine. There are noticeable usage and handling marks with the spine displaying dirt marking and a tear to cloth cover at top and centre. The interior has owners label attached to interior cover, yellowing and age spotting to pages and usage marks to handcut page edges. Dimensions 23cm x 14.5cm x 6cm.Regrettably, with heavy or large books I may request additional postage/shipping costs, however I will do my best to keep within quoted cost.
