Here is another large book, this time a soft cover trade paperback, of more recent vintage, about railroads. It is titled: Delaware & Hudson the History of an Important Railroad Whose Antecedent Was a Canal Network to Transport Coal, by Jim Shaughnessy. This very large soft cover book (8 ¼ x 11 inches, 476 pages) was published by Syracuse University Press of Syracuse, New York, dated 1997 and if I am reading the coding right, this is the First Edition/First Printing. It is bound in glossy, pictorial soft covers with an image of the Laurentian speeding through a wintry scene in Upstate New York. As usual, this book is well illustrated with lots of reproductions of vintage b&w photos of locomotives and other railroad scenes from this line. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The soft covers are clean and glossy and unscuffed; there is some very slight edge wear. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and photos are clean and bright, from cover to cover. The binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

Quoting from the flap of the dust jacket: During the second decade of this century, Arthur C. Parker, an anthropologist and museum curator wrote these three monographs which were published as Bulletins of the New York State Museum. Much sought after by collectors and the Iroquois, they are presented here in trilogy for the first time since their original publication. I am pleased to offer for your consideration a nice copy of: Parker on the Iroquois edited with an Introduction by William N. Fenton. The titles of the three Bulletins are: - Iroquois Uses of Maize and Other Food Plants - The Code of Handsome Lake- the Seneca Prophet and - The Constitution of the Five Nations. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 ¼ x 9 ¼ inches with the following pagination: Introduction- 45 pp; Book One- 119 pp; Book Two- 148 pp; and Book Three- 155 pp.) was published by the Syracuse University Press of Syracuse New York dated 1968 and I believe it is a First Edition. The book is bound in tan cloth with a black and gilt title panel on the spine and it is protected by a printed paper dust jacket. Each of the three books is well illustrated with reproductions of vintage b&w photos and drawings and diagrams. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There is some minor edge wear to the dust jacket- a few tiny tears at the top and bottom of the spine and some rubbing to its finish. The hard covers are clean and bright with some faint bumping to the top of the spine. Inside this book is unmarked and the pages are clean and bright throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

There have also been thorough scientific treatments of the North American species. Excellent as these works may be, they are not comprehensive, nontechnical guides that illustrate the eastern North American waxcaps in color. The work presented here is not intended to be a scientific treatment of the Hygrophoraceae; rather, it fills a gap between the sporadic coverage in general mushroom field guides and the more inclusive technical monographs that typically lack color illustrations. The geographical range of coverage includes eastern Canada, the United States east of the Great Plains and south to East Texas, the Gulf Coast, and Florida. Although the distribution of species is constantly being expanded as knowledge accumulates, most waxcaps that occur within this region are featured or discussed." FINE HARDCOVER, FINE DUST JACKET. Beginning with portraits of the artist, examples of his literary works, printed editions of his poetry, and an example of modern music inspired by his sonnets, the catalog shows representative examples of his work as a military engineer, architect, anatomist, poet, painter, and sculptor.
