Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 2nd Edition. This seems to be the 1st UK edition but the 2nd edition as the first was, apparently, the US edition. Preface to the 2nd edition, printed inside, tells us this. A sound, clean copy which is free from inscriptions. The boards are nice and bright and the title lettering on the spine is lovely and crisp. There are a couple of minor dents to the bottom edge of the back board. Hardly noticeable though. The dust jacket is clean and bright, albeit rather edge worn, with very minor loss, and price clipped. There's some very minor sun discolouration/toning to the spine. In all a very decent copy of this scarce book. Photos available promptly on request.

This comprehensive guide to Tobacco Culture will be welcomed by all who smoke or take snuff. Pipe, cigarette and cigar smoking are all covered. The author has grown, cured and processed tobacco for more than 15 years. He has persevered and built on his experience which he now relates in this book. Starting with the basics of preparing the seed-bed, selection of the type of tobacco and the actual growing, the author goes into detail on how to produce an acceptable grade of tobacco, one which meets the precise requirements of the smoker/grower. It will be unique; specially grown, cured and processed to meet the needs of the individual. A major problem up to now has been the difficulty of obtaining suitable equipment for Pressing, Shredding and Curing the tobacco. The Author has faced the problem and invented or adapted suitable equipment which can be made by anyone who is a handyman. Suitable diagrams show the parts needed and the principles to apply to make all you need for producing your own tobacco. This book can be the start of an enjoyable hobby. There is no need for a large garden or special knowledge. Save money and yet develop your own special brand. Make your own cigarettes, smoke your own cigars, or, if your choice is the pipe, produce pipe tobacco.
