The crown and foot of the jacket's spine are chipped with wear to upper right corner of front panel. Uncommon biography. Miles Park Romney (1843-1904) was born in Nauvoo, during the gathering of the Saints in the midwest on the banks of the Mississippi River. In 1850 his family left St. Louis and journeyed the overland trail to Utah. In 1867 Romney moved to southern Utah with his wives and children, where he worked on the St. George Tabernacle, which was completed in 1871, and assisted his father in the building of the St. George Temple. During this time Romney was also the president of the St. George Social Hall Company and the St. George Dramatic Association, he also served as a chief of police, attorney-at-law, newspaper editor, and architect. In the 1880s he was called to settle an area of northern Mexico, that would be named Colonia Juarez. Rare in jacket.…
