Black cloth, spine titled in gilt. Edition limited to 300 copies, signed and numbered by the author. Fine new copy in dust-wrapper. Si…gned and numbered by the author. Edition limited to 300 copies, only 200 of which are available for sale. A photographic account of Charles Bingham's life amongst the rivers and streams of the West Country and the chalkstreams in pursuit of trout, salmon and sea-trout. Privately published by the author, together with his daughter, Lara, in a limited edition of only 300 copies. Only 200 of these have been offered for sale, the remaining 100 copies being for private distribution by the author. "My ten published gamefishing and story books have each displayed many photographs, and articles too featured illustrations. My country and waterside years, with rod and camera, resulted in a selected print and transparency archive of many hundreds of photographs of wildlife, fish, rivers, lakes and people. It seemed to me a waste that this photographic archive should be stored, dust-laden, in some attic as the work of Grandpa Bingham. So, my daughter Lara, companion of days and nights beside, in or on rivers offered to publish this collection." .

Add to basketALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Paperback, 2014). 2014 1st English translation. 8vo paperback (159 x 235mm). Ppxviii,152. Colour illustrations. Some shelf wear, cover rather bumped, but a new, unread copy. Signed (in Urdu) by the translator. The poet-solider Khushal Khan Khattak…was chief of the Khattaks, a Pashtun tribe of Afghanistan and what is now Pakistan. Khushal Khan Khattak wrote this book in Pashto, the main language of Afghanistan and northern Pakistan, and is one of the greats of Pashto literature. The Book of Falconry is a manual of falconry written in verse, and is here translated into English by Sami ur Rahman. It "is a rare work in verse, surviving from the classical Mughal era. It covers the whole gamut of the field, including trapping, training, manning, colours, types, furniture, hatching, diseases, and medicine. The dark-eyed, known as the long-winged in the West, make for a large part of the text and the species discussed are the saker, the Altai falcon, gyrfalcon, shaheen, peregrine, laggar, and red-headed merlin. Among the yellow-eyed, or the short-winged, it is the goshawk, sparrowhawk, shikra, and besra, etc. Dealing with the subject matter in a concise, compact, and cogent manner, the poet gives the kingly sport an aesthetic and philosophical touch. The style and diction is down-to-earth and easy to follow. Apart from its historical and literary importance, this manual enjoys a great practical value, as some of the basic principles mentioned are as relevant today as they were three and a half centuries ago." Only 500 copies were printed, 450 of which were sold immediately at the book's launch at the Abu Dhabi Falconry Festival. INCORRECT - Sami says 1000 printed. .

Condition: new. ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (New, Paperback, 2015). 2015 1st edition. 8vo paperback (148 x 210mm). Pp332. B/w photographs and illustrations, brief bibliography. Fine new copy. Signed by the author. "The Hunting Game is a collection of hunting stories gleaned over the f…our decades the author has spent as a professional hunter in Southern Africa. Whilst many of the chapters are stories about specific hunting safaris the author has guided international clients on for different species, there are also chapters covering rifle calibers, bullet performance and related stuff. The author also includes a historical chapter on the hunting of crop raiding elephant (circa 1936) in Mozambique (what was then Portuguese East Africa). Another interesting chapter is about the author's experiences in dealing with tribal African superstitions when he was still a young game ranger with the Rhodesian Department of National Parks & Wildlife Management. Another chapter is a rather tongue in cheek humorous look at the often contentious gratuity issue in the safari hunting industry. Humor aside though, the author also issues a sombre warning as to the critical situation in some of Zimbabwe's once great state owned hunting safari concessions, where rampant poaching, greed, gross corruption, and horrific mismanagement have led to a sharp decline in wildlife numbers, probably now well beyond the critical tipping point. The author considers The Hunting Game a light campfire read, which will be of interest not only to sport hunting enthusiasts, but to anyone with an interest in the sustainable consumptive yield of Southern Africa's wildlife resources." Though not stated as a limited edition, only 200 copies were printed. Chapters include:- A bias towards all things kudu!; Random hunting reminisces & observations; Problem animal hunting - Marromeu, Mozambique, circa 1936; Eland memories; Waterbuck hunting memories; Red hartebeest: The high plains drifter; Random thoughts about the cull / trophy hunt combination; Warts & all; The noble warrior; Ubuthakathi!; For the love of impala; Tuskless elephant in Chirisa; The Sichifulo saga; Of common duiker and blue duiker; The .458 Lott; Big cat on the Bubye River; Giraffe reminisces; Of gratuities and broken horns; Old faithful - my 7x57mm Mauser; Close call with a buffalo; North Fork bullets - ideal for Africa; Sable: The suave African antelope; A zebra for decor; The parting; At the going down of the sun. The foreword is by Gregor Woods. .

The second book in Lyn Harber's…Hunters of the Welsh Hills series: a history of hunting with hounds in Wales. Includes anecdotes, archived material and interviews with prominent figures in Welsh hunting over the last half a century, as told to Lyn in their own words. "With all the challenges and uncertainties that lay ahead, I decided the time was right to try and record, for future generations to enjoy, the hunting lives of some of the many colourful characters who were profiled in the first volume of Hunters of the Welsh Hills. Due to the success and popularity of the first volume I decided to continue in the series, showing the hunting world long before the intervention of Tony Blair's toxic Labour Government. To be out on a Welsh hillside, with a pack of hounds in full cry is one of life's great pleasures." Chapters include:- The Welsh countryside march; Days gone by; The Welsh terrier; David Poulton M.F.H. - Talybont and District Farmers Hunt; Rowland Miles - Ystrad; Mark Powell - Brecon and Talybont; Martin Thomas M.F.H. - Beacons Foxhounds; Heddwyn Jones M.F.H. - Harford Foxhounds; Bryn Richards - David Davies Hunt; Willy Jones M.F.H. - Irfon and Towy; Ken Jones M.F.H. - Irfon and Towy; Richard Williams M.F.H. - Cwn Hela Eryri / Eryri Foxhounds; Jim Meads. .

Edition limited to 250 copies. Slight use and browning, laminate lifting from cover, smells fainlty of tobacco but good-plus. One of 250 copies signed an…d numbered by the author. "Iain Ogden first began fishing for salmon while studying at Aberdeen University in the early 1970s. As a microbial biochemist in an Aberdeen Fisheries Research Laboratory he bought and renovated an old cottage on the Drum estate where he met and fished regularly with the late Archie Davidson - renowned ghillie on the Middle Drum beat of the Aberdeenshire Dee. The die of pursuing wild salmon with rod and line having been firmly cast he began fishing several times a week on the prestigious waters at Tilbouries and Park as a guest of their owners. Here he was witness to the last of the great spring runs on rivers covered in 'grue' where double figure catches were commonplace; and sporting lairds who gladly shared stories of even greater days when some estate totals repeatedly exceeded 1,000 springers annually. Inevitably, his passion for catching salmon led to the banks of many other Scottish rivers including the Spey, Deveron and Findhorn, and the Alta, Gaula and Orkla in Norway. He has now landed more than 1,000 salmon to his own rod. This book details a personal account of the casts, characters, traditions and wildlife encountered while fishing these classic rivers, and gives a rare insight into the way traditional salmon angling was conducted before the days of breathable waders, baseball caps and mass-marketing." Chapters include: Background; Archie; The three lairds; Tales involving ghillies; Tackle and tactics; Amusing and unusual moments; Special moments; Great catches; Tales from Norway; Adverse weather conditions; Biology and riverside flora and fauna; Sundry stories; Some historical perspectives; Final thoughts; Obituaries: Willie Gunn; Richard Waddington. .
