Originally published in the US by Little, Brown in 1955. UK price label at the top left corner of the front cover. Light chipping at the top and bottom of the spine and slight chipping to the bottom left corner of the back cover which has a little discolouration. The covers are otherwise unmarked. Slight discolouration to the page edges. Small amount of spotting to the inside of the front cover and the pages are browned but are generally otherwise unmarked. Originally published in the US by Morrow in 1935. This edition has a short new introduction by the author. The covers have some peeling to the laminate - a one inch patch to the top left corner of the front cover, small patches at the top and bottom of the spine and along the top edge of the back cover. Light surface chipping at the top and bottom of the spine but the covers are otherwise clean and unmarked. Browning to the page edges. Small patch of residue to the reverse of the front endpaper where a bookplate has been removed. The pages are browned but are generally otherwise unmarked. Cover illustration by Robert Jonas. The rear cover has some browning and reading creasing along the spine and there is an imprint of four words that have been written heavily on a piece of paper on top of the rear cover. The pages are a little browned and there is a blue line down the margins of pages 15 to 18 but the pages are generally otherwise unmarked.
