Patriotic songsheet/writing paper with blindstamp of papermaker Southworth Co. Company founders Brothers Wells and Edward Southworth chose a site for the mill in 1839 on the banks of the Westfield River in the Mittineague area (Indian for "the place of falling waters") of West Springfield, Massachusetts. This songsheet is decorated with two American flags and with the words "Liberty and Union Forever" at top edge. Thirteen verses, starting with "Old Early camped at Fisher's Hill." and ending with "Losing all they had gained and thousands more." Mentions Eighth Corps, Gen. Grover, Sixth Corps, Nineteenth Corps, Sheridan, etc. Very slight soiling to edges, this copy remains fresh, bright and without creases or tears. Size: Octavo (8vo). Paper.
