[xvii], 73pp. Daniel Defoe's account of John Gow (c.1698-1725) was first published in 1725. Gow was probably born in Wick, Caithness, and was raised in Stromness, Orkney, where he went to school and learned to sail a ship. He turned to the life of a pirate, and was executed for piracy in 1725. The book is bound in the original brown simulated leather boards with gold titling on the spine and gold titling with a gold illustration of a pirate on the front board.
