Marcha a Madrid donde es detenido y devuelto a prisión; es abril de 1939, tiene 18 años y pasarán 23 años hasta ser puesto en libertad en 1961, con 41 años de edad. Serán largos años de tortura, privación y encierro. Allí nace su obra poética, vital y lúcida, una ventana donde contemplar la ciudadanía en cadenas; nacida desde el dolor sí, pero que festeja la vida, la inteligencia y la dignidad del hombre.
