An attempt to find the truth behind the mystery of the legend of Hereward, the leader of the last area of resistance to the Norman conquest of Britain of 1066. 182 pages with Index, Notes, and Bibliography. Illustrated The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. There are two small closed tears on the dust jacket, it has been protected with a removable mylar cover though. One tear is at the top of the spine, second is near the top of the back flap. Besides the dust jacket wear there is not much further wear to report, no writing, no former ownership marks. This is not a remainder copy, not a library discard. This is the story of Hereford, the Saxon leader who resisted the Norman invaders, circa 1070. Using old archives as well as recent archaeological discoveries, Victor Head traces the story of Hereford as well as his descendants, and identifies the places, particularly in East Anglia, that were important in his story. As is the case for all of our listings, the attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory, not stock photos.
