She is a prolific author, whose work includes numerous book chapters, encyclopedia entries, and articles in peer-reviewed journals including American Journalism: A Journal of Media History. Dr. Lauters is also the editor/author of the book The Rediscovered Writings of Rose Wilder Lane, Literary Journalist, and author of More than a Farmer's Wife: Voices of American Farm Women 1910-1960. She is a current member and past president of the American Journalism Historians Association.
