This book has become a standard within Northern California regional history focusing on the several mountain communities…east of Chico and the Sacramento Valley. There are fifteen separate authors contributing to the book covering road development, the driving of cattle from winter to summer pastures, lumber and logging, forestry and fire protection, and development of several mountain communities. This copy is in strictly fine condition and really As New with the green cloth over boards with gilt lettering on the spine As New with the text pages again showing no marking and As New and the dust wrapper also As New with no chipping or tears to be seen. The book features many black-and-white photos illustrating the text information, several very good maps by Chris Sicken - created for this book, and finally several graphics showing family lineage for several prominent families in the area.
