ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 1984 ). 1984 1st edition. 4to (219 x 286mm). Ppxviii,257. Colour & b/w photographs, illustrations. Stone cloth, black titles to upper board and spine. Print-out on fish mounting enclosed. Very good copy in slightly used dust-wrapper. The author "has taken the challenge of using polyester resin with plaster molds that have been taken from mucus-coated fish, and has succeeded in producing resin castings with crisp striations etching scales and fins. The reason he is able to obtain such clear definition in his molds and casts stems from his thorough understanding of plaster and his thoughtful study of the reactions of resin. The core of his knowledge on both subjects will be found in the sections titled General Observations on Plaster and General Observations on Resin. The information within these two sections should improve your results with plaster and resin immediately." .

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Some short tears and edgewear to dustjacket. Ralph Morrill was a museum artist and the taxidermist responsible for the construction of the lifelike habitat groups at the Peabody Museum of Natural History. Mr. Morrill came to the Peabody Museum in 1924, when the museum was first moving into its current Whitney Avenue location and its halls were empty. During the next 40 years as the museum's chief preparator in vertebrate zoology, Mr. Morrill had a hand in creating virtually every exhibit hall in the museum. He also trained several generations of museum exhibit preparators to carry on his tradition.
