Wyatt Earp walked into a fifteen-foot wide vacant lot and with two of his brothers and Doc Holiday to face the McLaurys and the Clantons. That twenty-five second gunfight that followed became the most famous shoot-out in history. However, the incident that catapulted Wyatt Earp into national headlines during his lifetime is the basis of this book. It was Wyatt Earp's decision in the heavyweight bout between Robert Fitzsimmons and 'Sailor' Tom Sharkey on December 2, 1896, in San Francisco. Wyatt refereed this bout with the sole authority to render the decision, should that be necessary. Perhaps a first in boxing history, Wyatt entered the ring armed with a pistol and was promptly disarmed by the police. Earp's decision at the end of the fight placed him at the center of a controversy. "The Earp Decision" is an edited composite of newspaper accounts of the fight including the court proceedings that followed. As New - Still shrink wrapped.
