THIS BOOK IS INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR/ARTIST JOSEF ALBERS. In Fine condition. First Edition, Third Printing in 1971. Has a small soiling spot on rear cover (outside of art piece). The masterworks of one of the most influential teacher-artists of the twentieth century. This book was originally published as a limited, boxed edition in 1963 with 50 copies signed. Those copies contain 150 color plates. The books were sold out and now are rare and can cost over $20,000 if signed. The book was conceived as a guide and teaching aid for artists, instructors, and students. In 1970 a German publisher produced a version. This paperbound edition was printed in 1971 by Yale University as a "pocket-sized" volume (Measures 5 7/8" x 8 1/8"), containing the unabridged text of the original 1963 edition, plus ten representative color plates of that same 1963 original.
