Introduced as the repeated application of an action to a quantity, most famously exemplified by addition to define multiplication, iteration finds powerful applications in the field of functions, which express relationships between quantities. Among the functions that emerge from iteration, the author introduces the concept of ligant or linking functions, which simplify the representation of sums of functions. Through its examination of the behavior of different functions under iteration, this book delves into the nature of these functions and their role in mathematics. By carefully defining and analyzing the iterative process, the author provides valuable insights into the intricacies of mathematical operations, opening up new avenues for mathematical discovery.
