Composed of speeches, discussions, and recitals, this book provides insight into the history and teaching of public speaking and performance before the advent of motion pictures or radio. The convention brought together figures dedicated to promoting and establishing reading and speaking as a performing art, and this book grants the reader access into their conversations and deliberations, giving both context and history to the theories and techniques that have shaped the field.
