This book, a one-act comedy, is a play about Bernard, who hides in a painter's studio after narrowly escaping the jealous husband of a woman he has been visiting. While hiding, he explains to Marthe, the painter, that he is there to escape the wrath of the husband, whom he has nicknamed "The Seal" because of his tendency to cough like a seal. Mistakenly assuming that Bernard is a model, Marthe convinces him to pose for a portrait but soon realizes his discomfort. Through their conversation, the author explores themes of identity, desire, and the complexities of relationships. This insightful and entertaining play offers a humorous take on the challenges of love and the unexpected turns that life can take.
