It compiles the knowledge acquired throughout history of hundreds of plant species across Europe. Organized according to the system of that time, this book details the characteristics of each species, their geographical distribution, and their relative value for both practical and aesthetic purposes. A notable aspect of the book, and the work of the author, is the identification and establishment of an agreed-upon taxonomy for plant species. Over the centuries of botanical practice, different names had been applied to the same species which made communication difficult among scholars. The author of this book helped to stabilize the names and definitions of species taxonomy, which allowed for easier comparison of data among scholars. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
