In this book, the author analyzes gunshot wounds, particularly from military weapons, and discusses the history of treatment as well as advances that have been made, along with the resulting impact on patients. The author delves into the evolution of surgical techniques and armament technology, especially as it relates to battlefield injuries since the mid-19th century. Drawing on historical accounts, the text explores how the injuries change based on the weapons and projectiles used, from the large musket balls and round bullets of the past to the faster and smaller projectiles in use today. Furthermore, the author reviews differing viewpoints and theories on how to distinguish between entrance and exit wounds, an essential task for medical professionals in diagnosing and treating gunshot victims.
