These successful endeavors set the stage for the next phase of construction and after several setbacks, the Dorchester Rapid Transit Company opened in 1929 as a high-speed trolley line which was later converted into a rapid transit line as part of the MTA in 1965. The book concludes with a detailed description of the ambitious Traffic Tunnel project begun in 1931 and still used by commuters today.
