This book presents a series of letters from an anonymous author to notable individuals of the day, published between 1844 and 1846, advocating for the repeal of the Corn Laws. The author writes directly to politicians, landowners and religious figures, arguing passionately against the Corn Laws, which they claim keep food prices artificially high and push people into poverty. The letters also praise the benefits of free trade and discuss many social and economic issues affecting the working class of the time. The letters are based on the principles of humanity, and the author's frustration with the slow pace of change and the unwillingness of those in power to address the needs of the poor shine through. The book provides an interesting insight into the social and political landscape of Victorian Britain and the fight for economic justice.
