This book comprises a collection of letters exchanged between Bishop Edmund Gibson of London, and Isaac Watts, a prominent Nonconformist minister and prolific hymn writer. Spanning from 1731 to 1748, these letters offer a unique glimpse into the religious landscape of 18th-century England and the complex relationship between the established Church of England and dissenting Protestant groups. The correspondence covers various topics, including theological debates, the challenges faced by Nonconformists, and the importance of Christian unity. Watts' insights into the power of hymns as a tool for spiritual growth and his unwavering commitment to religious liberty make this collection an invaluable resource for scholars of ecclesiastical history and anyone interested in the development of Protestant thought during this period.
