Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a series of addresses and pamphlets originally delivered by author D. A. Tompkins, who was an advocate for expanding U.S. manufacturing capabilities and markets. By the author's time, America had acquired vast territories, and Tompkins argued that these new lands, resources, and populations presented both an opportunity and a duty for the United States to grow its manufacturing economy. He supported the view that America had a responsibility to promote progress and civilization around the world through the sale and trade of its goods. In summation, this collection presents the perspective that American manufacturers, having reached a point of maturity and excellence, should embrace the opportunity to expand their markets abroad as a means of economic growth and national influence.
