Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 2nd Edition. A reprint of this new Jonathan Cape edition, issued one month later. 8vo. 456pp. Blue cloth lettered in silver at the spine and with the publisher's dark blue top edge stain. A very faint vertical crease to the front free endpaper, else fine copy in…virtually fine non-price-clipped pictorial dust wrapper. The first edition of this text - deemed one of the cornerstones of Great War aviation literature - was published in June 1934 and dedicated to Henry Williamson at whose suggestion the book was begun, and with whose encouragement and help it was completed. A second impression was issued in November 1934; Yeates died the following month and as a result later copies of that second impression included Williamson's tribute which is dated January 1935. This Cape reprint includes a somewhat revised version of that Williamson tribute plus also a new one-page preface, dated July 1961.
