Add to basketHalf leather bound. Condition: Near Fine. First printing. Large folio, 17 3/4 " tall X 13" wide. (45 X 32 cm). Unnumbered pages.Half bound from parts in dark blue leather and blue cloth with 5 raised bands on spine and gilt top edge. With 86 of 87 hand colored lithographic plates, a double page map of Central & South America and an index. With double page plate of Masdevalia Chimaera. Appears to have been bound without 1plate from section 12. There is a little scuffing of the leather on the bands and extremities. The plates are clean and bright. Apparently only 100 to 150 sets were printed and issued in 9 wrappered parts. The plates were drawn and lithographed to life size by the author who also touched up the coloring of every plate to be as accurate as possible. Professor Reichenbach saw and approved of some of the plates before he passed away. This is an impressive and beautiful book.
