Dark gray cloth mildly soiled, small frayed chip to cloth at spine heel, minor fraying at head of front joint, cloth nicked at rear board's top edge. Soiling to edges; toning and some soiling to endpapers; past owner's pencil signature at top of front free endpaper with pencil notes on rear free endpaper. A few spots of soiling to interior text pages which, overall, remain quite clean. A very good- copy of an uncommon book with the author's ink signature "ChasSWinslow" (completely written without a break in the ink) at the center of the front free endpaper. Features extensive text by Charles S. Winslow illustrated by cartoons drawn by Ralph Everett Wilder circa 1903 which reflect various facets of Chicago's 19th century history and were originally published to accompany soap advertisements by Chicago meatpacker Swift & Company.
