This fascinating collection of memoirs and interviews paints an intimate picture of Hitler by members of his household. These eyewitnesses were in the peculiar position of being connected to Hitler but totally unconnected to the world-shattering events that were going on further afield. The reader is introduced to Karl Wilhelm Krause, Hitler's valet from 1934 to 1939, then Herbert Döhring, his housekeeper from 1936 to 1943 and finally Anna Plaim, his chambermaid from 1941 tp 1943. From these accounts we get a deeper sense of Hitler in close proximity, including intimate details of his habits, health and behaviour. Book in fine condition but for a small, short notation in ink at the top of the free front endpaper. 8vo. 9-1/2' x 6-1/2". Black paper covered boards, textured to look like cloth. Spine stamped in silver. 230 pp. plus 10 pp. publisher's ads.

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. This collection paints a picture of Hitler from members of his household in the unique position of being "seemingly ever-present, yet totally unconnected to events." The reader is introduced to Hitler's Bodyguard Karl Krause (1934-39), his house administrator Herbert Dohring (1935-43) and chambermaid Anna Plaim (1941-43). From these accounts we get a deeper sense of Hitler in close proximity. These accounts massively add to our understanding of Hitler as a three dimensional character, especially from subjects like Plaim who only knew Hitler's home life, having rarely left Berghof. The series is able to shed light on his likes and dislikes from foods to his hobbies, creating a strange sense of humanity. This collection also provides the reader with fresh anecdotes, observations and portraits of Hitler's entourage and relatives. Plaim's images of Eva Braun come from finding torn fragments in the bin, whilst Dohring sheds light on Martin Bormann's demeanour. Insights from three of Hitler's subjects on his daily life providing intimate details of Hitler's habits, health and behaviours. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
