Dark green covers are blind-printed front and rear and with ornate gilt title on the front, bumped corners. Original green leather spine issplit along the front joint and the front cover is detached. Small library label and reference number on inside of front cover and large Ampleforth Abbey purple stamp on front end-paper. Red and black frontis and title-page which also has a decorative panel. 9 plates and many woodcuts and vignettes - a couple in colour. Plates have tissue protective sheets and have light foxing.
