First Edition
Wraps. Wright, Walter; Endsleigh Castle, P. (illustrator). Presumed first edition. 16 p. Includes illustrations. Color illustrations inside front and back cover and on center pages. The P-38 proved to be a controversial warplane. Noted for its lethal firepower, and the remarkable range of its armament, it was able to operate a long range from its bases. However, mechanically it proved problematical, and often planes returned on one engine. This warplane was the only U.S. military aircraft in production when the United States was attacked at Pearl Harbor and entered the Second World War. Good. No dust jacket as issued. Cover has some wear and soiling.
